In this piece, first dose and second dose vaccines are soaring through the sky along with a booster vaccine to fight the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Each vaccine is piercing a coronavirus, deflating it and rendering it ineffective of infecting another person. Depicting vaccines as superheroes resonates with everyone who has lived through the pandemic. Personally, I viewed the possibility of a vaccine as a symbol of hope throughout the long, isolated months of the pandemic.

My submission captures the sentiments of people worldwide as new COVID-19 variants emerge. Two doses of the original vaccines may not be enough; booster vaccines must be added to fight the virus effectively. The vaccines are also “wearing” masks as capes, symbolizing how masking and social distancing remain relevant measures to combat the pandemic. While many are hopeful that the pandemic will come to an end, obstacles such as vaccine hesitancy remain.
