HEMORRHAGIC STROKE-EEG & HEMORRHAGIC STROKE- ANGIOGRAM | Jenny Rangan
“EEG is a synthesis of experiences during my brain bleed. It says, "Starts with B or P or L?" "What is my granddaughter's name?" "Seizure" "Hemorrhagic Stroke" "3-6 months, No, 6-12 months" (how long they said it would take to get full recovery), “No driving for 6 months" "Every day is Wednesday" (I was mixing up days), "AD13BPO???" (The stroke occurred while driving. I was on the phone with my sister and couldn't read the signs to her. There were no numbers, but that was my best guess for names of towns). Angiogram shows a compilation of lights I saw during an angiogram as they inserted a dye into different areas. In one area I saw letters. For each area I saw different light configurations.”
Jenny Rangan fell in love with ceramics in college and it has been her primary medium for decades. Over the last 3 years, Rangan has been pursuing an MA in Art Therapy at Lesley University. Recently, she experienced a hemorrhagic stroke and her studies have been on hold while she is recovering. The following drawings relate to her experiences during recovery. Rangan co-founded the Cape Ann Ceramics Festival and partnered in running Lexicon Gallery and Workshops in Gloucester, MA. Her large-scale ceramic sculptures have been in previous Flying Horse Outdoor Sculpture Exhibits in Hamilton, MA, at the Newton Festival for the Arts, in Newton, MA, and at Flatrocks in Lanesville, MA. "Haven" is currently installed in the green space behind Common Crow, Gloucester, MA.
