“‘My Voice. My Fight. My Freedom’ is inspired by recent events in reproductive health, mainly the overturning of Roe vs. Wade that has led to an uproar worldwide. With rape, molestation, sexual assault at an all-time high, this work hopes to emulate the conflicting helplessness experienced by those affected. The uterus being the only coloured part is to bring to mind the insinuation of its purpose being more important than the person it belongs to. Voices are raised and stories are told, but are they heard?”
Nidhi Suthar is an aspiring pre-med currently working in clinical research. She started sketching while undergoing treatment for a chronic condition and found an outlet for expression and storytelling. She continues to create pieces inspired by stories, personal or otherwise, while preparing for further studies.
