Adela Wu, MD is a neurosurgery resident at Stanford University as well as an artist and writer. She has published articles and editorial illustrations for campus newspapers and blogs at Brown University, Johns Hopkins, Stanford as well as National Public Radio and ABC News. Her artwork is created with mixed media and uses both traditional (pencil, paint, watercolor) and digital methods. "(this) Pain, (dis)Proportion" is an attempt at visually interpreting a difficult and mysterious chronic disease, complex regional pain syndrome, which is often, unfortunately characterized as pain out of proportion to its course or cause.
