KYANITE | Taylor McMahon & Sink Lindsay

This film seeks to uncover facets of our humanity by excavating points of similitude and difference, longing and desire, fear and vulnerability. Drawing from principles of dance therapy, method acting, and interpersonal communication theories, this dance film displays the nuances of intimacy and ever-evolving relationships during the COVID-19 pandemic. The rehearsal process, made up of two actors, a choreographer, and videographer drew on each artist’s personal experiences, threading together a more cohesive narrative; a type of case study in and of itself. Through design elements like lighting, choreography, and camera movement, this piece highlights the cross between individual desire and fantasy and the blending of expression when shared communally. Our desired result: a healing experience for the artists involved and viewers who watch. Music: Kiss U Right Now by DUCKWRTH
